Head Coach - Tayt Tolman
Coach Tolman has been coaching wrestling at SHS since 2015. He is also a Special Education and Math teacher at Sunnyslope. Coach Tolman comes to Sunnyslope from Oregon where he graduated from Western Oregon University and South Albany High School. Since moving to Arizona Coach Tolman has gained his masters degree in Special Education and Administration Leadership. Coach Tolman loves working with his student-athletes and watching the growth into amazing young adults.
Coach Tolman has an amazing wife Karly and his three beautiful daughter (Kassidy, Layne, and Peyton). When Coach Tolman is not teaching or coaching he is home enjoying life.

Girls Head Coach- Davin Woolridge
Coach Woolridge has been at Sunnyslope coaching from the stands to start while he watched his son Davin Woolridge Jr. come through the program. Jr was a 3x state qualifier and two-time state placer. Coach Woolridge started as the data/track wrestling coach and off-season coach. He quickly moved up from that to assistant coach to Head Girls Coach. Coach Woolridge has found great success with the head girls coach position with having a number of female athletes qualify for state and producing a few All- Americans.
Coach Woolridge is a devoted coach, and father to his two kids. His daughter Jada Woolridge and his son Davin Woolridge Jr.
Assistant Coach- David Pastoriza
Coach Pastoriza is no stranger to wrestling or success. Many say that coach Pastoriza was born with wrestling in his blood. He experienced success throughout his career and even passed that same success down to his kids. His son Luis Pastoriza was a 4x state qualifier, state runner up and state champion. His daughter Lisa has many national tournaments wins and multiple All-American awards, as well as his other daughter Erica who is a world runner up and a world champion. His youngest son Eric Pastoriza is an amazing photographer especially when it comes to action photos.
Coach Pastoriza is one of the Arizona Girls National coaches who strives to bring a spotlight on the ever-growing sport of girls wrestling. You will most often find him with a “Grow Girls wrestling” shirt on of some sort. Coach is married to wife Adriana Chavez Pastoriza who happens to be his better half when it comes to trivia night. Coach's quote is " you win every match you don't lose", and he wants all to know that he can grow a full head of hair. He is bald by choice!
Assistant Coach- Curtiz Salazar
Coach Curtis Salazar will be entering his 7th season as an assist wrestling coach at Sunnyslope High School. Coach Salazar specializes in working with the lower weights and is an excellent technician and motivator for our young athletes. Prior to Sunnyslope Coach Salazar coached for the Valley Vikings for 3 seasons in Gilcrest, Colorado (Alma mater). He attended the University of Nebraska on an athletic scholarship for Wrestling. While at Nebraska Curtis was a 2 year starter on the wrestling team and helped lead the team to a Big 12 championship in 2009. Curtis has a 6 year old son Jaxon, a 4 year old daughter Allie and his wife Victoria.
Assistant Coach- Morgan Deane
Assistant Coach- Brody Thompson
Coach Brody has been coaching at Sunnyslope for the past three seasons after spending two seasons as the head coach at Madison Meadows. A Sunnyslope wrestling alumni (2017) and avid wrestling fan, Coach Brody loves to talk wrestling, from the latest college and international results, to technique breakdown.
In his personal life, he is an Academic and Financial Counselor at Grand Canyon University and volunteers as a Bible study leader at Scottsdale Bible Church’s Young Adults ministries.
Assistant Coach- Zach Cotto
Coach Cotto will be coming up on his 2nd year of coaching wrestling and football at Sunnyslope High School. He is an alumni of Slope and wrestled all 4 years under Coach Tolman where he was a 3 time state qualifier. Coach Cotto loves to stay active and is a big sports fanatic, whether it’s football or wrestling. Most importantly, he loves watching kids grow while finding their potential and teaching them the sport.
Assistant Coach- Drake Lacina
First year coaching for Sunnyslope. Coach Drake Lacina grew up in Missouri where he was a two time state qualifier at the high school level. He moved to Arizona in 2021 to study Biology at Grand Canyon University. He has a deep passion for wrestling and is looking forward to his first year coaching the sport. Coach Drake credits wrestling for instilling discipline and a strong work ethic that carries over into every area of his life. He is excited to share his love for the sport and get to see students fall in love with wrestling.
In his free time Coach Drake enjoys hiking, hunting, running, reading, and drinking coffee.
Assistant Coach- Joe Kobes
Coach Kobes was a Division 1 wrestler at the United States military Academy, West Point with 20 years of military experience in multi-channel logistics and operations around the world. Coach was awarded the Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars for his service. While in the military, Coach was a mixed martial arts (MMA) instructor, and published two scientific research journals on chemotherapy and organ regeneration.
Three interesting facts about me: First, I was on the TV show Deal Or No Deal. Second, I love helping people and being a positive influence in their lives. Third, I love spending time with my wife (Laura) and our 4 children (Hudson, Cael, Holden, and Maddy).

Coach Taylor came through the ranks of Sunnyslope wrestling, Taylor became Sunnyslopes first female state placer. She went on to be a 3x state placer including a State runner up. This is Taylors 2nd year coaching at Sunnyslope!
Assistant Coach- Tommy Armstrong
Hello my name is Coach Tommy Armstrong. I've been apart of the sport of wrestling since 6th grade. I've been helping coach for several years and I'm a 2x state qualifier. I am excited about coaching this upcoming season and see what these young men can do.
